Beer anyone?
Two weekends ago I worked the England vs. Wales 6 Nations rugby game. I knew it was going to be a big game...but I didn't quite realize how big it would be till I got off the train and was swept up in the mob of people also on their way to the game. I had walked these same streets the week prior on my way to a league rugby game...but they sure didn't look like this.

Well, we all know I'm at this game because I have a job to do. This is the infamously hard task of putting on the dang pack.

Debora is my sidekick in beer selling. At this game, she and I outsold the 6 or 7 guys that were also working AND we both earned stars... Apparrently, if you earn 7 stars, you receive a bonus. Who knew?? Guys kept coming up and saying "we've found the only blonde girl selling beer!" and I would reply by saying that you've also found the only American selling beer! At this game, I had two highly intoxicated guys decide that they were going to help the blonde girl sell...so they proceeded to stand by me during the half time and yell out "You have to buy beer from this girl...she came all the way from the US to sell you beer" Tricky thing is, at this particular stadium, you are not allowed to actively advertise what you are selling. So I had to rely on my smile and blonde hair of course...and my highly intoxicated side kicks! Needless to say, Debora and I got the job done.

I know what you are thinking and trust me...a lot of guys ask me if I could possibly be wearing any more clothes. I was wearing 4 shirts (two being longsleeve shirts), two fleece jackets and my polo. And wouldn't you believe it...I was still cold!

Today I worked my first football game at Arsenal stadium. The highlight was that my boss talked to security who allowed me to sit and watch a part of the game in the stadium. Makes me miss my cleats! At this game we didn't sell carbonated beer because of stadium rules and sponsorships. So it was bottles of beer (and I had to unscrew every darn cap) which is not as popular with the customers.
Being me, and a business fanatic, I have already had a one on one with the company manager to talk about their business model, pricing structure and so forth. Highly interesting I must say. Major Tom's Ltd has no competitors in the UK selling carbonated beer via backpackers. They usually purchase the beer from the stadium itself and need to make a profit of at least one pound per beer sold. We tend to sell our beer at 3 pounds per pint...but the price is determined by what the stadium is selling the product at. We always match it so that we don't lose customers...
I think it's real funny that I'm the only American working for the company. Most are Brazilian...so when the debrief us, they always do it in a different language and tell me that they'll debrief me later. I'm quite the minority.
I feel like my resume is growing by each game I work. I can now say that I have been a Carling, Heinekin and Budweiser girl earning stars left and right. Really, if that isn't a resume builder I'm not sure what is.
